LEECH
LEECH is a serious game about privacy policies.
The game
LEECH is an adventure / role play game. Your are playing Dave, the protagonist of LEECH who is about to celebrate his birthday and discover the world of privacy policies. You will experience the game from the perspective from Dave, so questions and actions do not need to consider your own perspective. The goal of the game is to defeat the data leech which collects all your personal information. Along the way, Dave needs to solve several 'puzzles'.
Evaluation
This study aims to evaluate LEECH. The study will start with a survey on background information after which you will be redirected to the game Leech. Please play 15 minutes or longer. At the end of the game you will be redirected to another questionnaire asking you about the game. Additionally, once you have accomplished the first part of the game, you will be able to access the questionnaire even though you haven't finished. This will be possible via by accessing a reporter (see image below) which is part of the game. You may leave the game and proceed later at any time.
Collected Data
For our experiment, we will collect the status of the game (e.g. scores and progress within the game) as well as the answers and times of our questionnaires. We will also use an identifier to connect the answers of the pre- and post-questionnaire. We will not collect any information beyond those. The survey will be hosted at a server of the Goethe University Frankfurt. We do not collect your IP address. However, cookies will be stored on your device to save the status of the game and questionnaire.
Participate
By starting the game, you agree to participate in the evaluation of LEECH and the collection of the data described above for scientific purposes.
In order to start the game after the first part of the survey, please select 'New Game' from the menu when the game appears.

The game makes use of pop-up windows. In order to play the game you will need to allow pop-up windows for the domain leech.pallas.net (Screenshot: Setting, Change it, Setting after the change).
